Supporting innovation in Ontario’s financial services sector is a foundational part of FSRA’s mandate as a regulator. FSRA’s Innovation Office was launched to empower and support Ontario’s financial services sector in overcoming barriers to innovation while maintaining consumer confidence. The Innovation Office helps foster responsible innovation in Ontario’s financial services sector and helps innovators reduce obstacles to introducing their services and products to the market.  The Innovation Office is committed to taking a collaborative approach to ensure that Ontario’s financial services sector can pursue innovative products and solutions.

Test and Learn Environment (TLE)

The Innovation Office’s Test and Learn Environment (TLE) provides innovators with a  sandbox for testing and gauging market response to their innovations. It is custom designed to support experimental business activities that would typically be restricted by sector regulations. The TLE provides real-market conditions and safe parameters, for a limited time, allowing innovators to test their product or service confidently.

The Test and Learn Environment provides:

  • Real-time insights and feedback on how the new approach, product or service performs in a real market
  • Findings to help validate the new product or service offerings, with insights on how it might enhance or adapt current regulations
